Former college football standout Christian Almonte shot multiple times in the line of duty

Former UW-Stevens Point standout football player Christian Almonte was released from the hospital after being shot in the line of duty, but he needs our help.

Milwaukee County Deputy and UW-Stevens Point Football standout Christian Almonte was shot multiple times in the line of duty on January 26th during a traffic stop.  Almonte played football at UW-Stevens Point from 2013 to 2017 and was an All-WIAC selection return specialist in 2015 for the Pointers.

If you can help it would be huge, a GoFundMe was set up for his bills. He was released from the hospital this week.

The incident happened in January. Deputy Almonte stopped a vehicle for a registration violation near 68th and Adler. They say the driver got out of the car and ran, but they caught up to that person nearby.

The passenger in that car fled on foot. He was found climbing into a garbage can when deputies found him near 64th and Adler. The man then fired multiple shots at Deputy Almonte, ran off, and took his own life.

Please pray for Christian and his family.
