What do you think are the keys to success on the football field?

Being consistent in your work and doing everything with a purpose.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

Winning conference championship in junior college, this last past season was one of my favorite seasons, and my first game at Marshall.

What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?

I’m looking forward to just growing and seeing what my ceiling is and getting knowledge from people who have been around awhile.

What sets you apart from other defensive linemen?

I have an ability to adapt, doesn’t take me very long to learn and I can play an position on the defensive line and I feel like I have room to get stronger.

What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

When I was in 8th grade my dad asked me if I wanted to play football and I said yes and over time I learned to love the game.

What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

I play with emotion but I’m not emotional. I’m always level-headed.

What should we know about TJ Johnson the person?

You are getting a person that really cares about people, upfront and honest and I’m always willing to learn.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

Head on I like to address the problems right then and there. The faster you address it the faster you can move on.

What do you love about the game of football?

I love how it’s uncomfortable and as a team you get through a struggle together.

What would a team get in a player like you?

They would get a real dedicated team guy willing to do whatever to help the team succeed.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Probably Aaron Donald, I just want to see how he prepares for the game that allows him to succeed the way he does.

How are you planning to prepare for the draft?

I’ll be training in West Virginia, really focused on getting my body one hundred percent ready, trying to get a good 40 time while maintaining my size.
