What sets you apart from other offensive linemen?

I would say what sets me apart is my love of the process. I played football for Kansas University. Which as most people know is struggling to turn the tide of years or bad ball. This year towards the end I can say you could see real change and a extremely bright future ahead for a KU. I played there for 6 years and was a leader there for all 6. So long story short it has been a process but through my work ethic and ability to keep pushing the standard of myself and those around me I can say I helped leave the program better than I found it.

What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I’ve honestly been playing football since I could walk. Growing up in Texas and Louisiana. Football was all around me. I love the physicality of the game, the team work required, and as I’ve grown up I’ve seen how this game has prepared me for life and helped me mature.

What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

My energy is another thing I feel sets me apart on the field. If you ever talk to any of my teammates they would tell you the same thing. I really do love this game. Whether I’m in the game or on the sideline I’m locked in and giving all the energy I possibly have. I absolutely hate quiet sidelines!

How are you planning to prepare for the draft?

I plan to prepare for the draft by continuing to do what I’ve been doing to get me to this point. Which is continuously trying to perfect my craft. Further my knowledge of the game and take care of my body.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

I would say Tom Brady, just because I would love to pick his brain. Just ask how he sees the game and what keeps pushing him. And probably a million more questions.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

Definitely when I caused the game winning fumble against Texas Tech a few years ago. After they blocked our kick and were trying to return it.

Then a close second would be every time we beat Texas. Because I had two brothers that played football at UT. So any victory over them is always a little more special.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I have been hit with a lot of adversity/challenges in my life and in my football career. I always have found a way to battle through and make each lesson a strength afterwards.

What do you love about the game of football?

That it is more than just a game. It’s a way of life. It’s the ultimate teacher. But what I love most is the fun and joy it brings me. No matter how old I’ve gotten I still find myself having that same fun and joy I had as a child playing this game.

What do you think are the keys to success on the football field?

I think the keys to success on the football field are a mental edge,
knowing your opponent, and an unyielding sense of physicality.

What would a team get in a player like you?

Someone who is willing to push the standard. Someone who will take care of business and represent the program in the right way. Someone who is willing to learn and ready to help my team in any and every way.

What are you looking forward to as a football player going forward?

The opportunity. The opportunity to continue what I love, and grow as a player and a person.

What should we know about Chris Hughes the person?

That I’m an extremely hard working, and fun person and I also love to help people. I love to volunteer and help others achieve their goals as well.
