NAIA Football Quarterfinals Match-Up Preview
Justin Berendzen(@jrberendzen on Twitter) with my NAIA quarterfinals matchup preview. Matchups are ranked by competitiveness and intrigue but it’s the quarterfinals so anything can happen.
1.Concordia (MI) University at Grand View (IA) University
This is definitely a must watch matchup Concordia came out and absolutely dominated Saint Xavier and Grand View just very well against Dickinson State. The Vikings offense has sophomore running back Ali Scott who has 872 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. Defensively for Concordia they have junior defensive back Gerald McHenry Jr who has 42 tackles, 8 PBUs, 5 interceptions and 3 forced fumbles and redshirt sophomore Alonzo Johnson who has 41 tackles, 5 PBUs and 2 interceptions. The Cardinals offense has senior running back Keirell Jackson who has 625 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns. Defensively for Grand View they have junior defensive back Jianni Angulo who has 30 tackles and 3 interceptions and sophomore linebacker Rocky Schoenfelder who has 43 tackles, 13 TFLs and 6.5 sacks.
2.Kansas Wesleyan University at Morningside (IA) University
I like this matchup a lot especially from an offensive standpoint lots of offensive firepower in this one. The Mustangs offense has senior running back Anthony Sims who has 1,474 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns and senior receiver Reid Jurgensmeier who has 1,222 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. Defensively the Coyotes have junior defensive lineman Cole Parker who has 44 tackles, 14.5 TFLs, and 8.5 sacks. Senior wide receiver Stevie Williams has 1,013 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns and freshman wide receiver Eren Jenkins who has 849 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Defensively for the Mustangs they have senior linebacker Tyler Wingert who has 118 tackles, 17.5 TFLs and 3 interceptions.
3.Marian (Ind) University at Northwestern (IA) College
Marian will have an uphill battle but they can definitely make it happen. The Red Raiders offense has senior wide receiver Cade Moser who has 1,211 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns. Defensively for the Knights they have junior linebacker Sir’Zion Dance who has 88 tackles, 17.5 TFLs and 4 PBUs and freshman defensive back T.Y. Thomas who has 26 tackles, 8 PBUs and 3 TFLs. Marian’s offense has junior wide receiver Ben Stevens who has 915 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns. Defensively for the Red Raiders they have sophomore linebacker Parker Fryar who has 82 tackles, and 4 PBUs and senior defensive back Noah Van’t Hof who has 61 tackles, and 4 PBUs.
4.Keiser University at Lindsey Wilson College
The question still remains can anyone defeat Lindsey Wilson that it will be tough for Keiser. Senior running back Jaylen Boyd has 1,056 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns for Lindsey Wilson. The Seahawks defense has freshman defensive back Wendol Philord who has 54 tackles, 6 interceptions and 4 PBUs and senior defensive lineman Victor Alvarez Jr who has 41 tackles, 11.5 TFLs, and 7 sacks. Offensively for Keiser they have junior running back Marques Burgess who has 1,713 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns. Defensively for the Blue Raiders they have senior defensive back Robert Carter who has 32 tackles, 11 PBUs and 7 interceptions and freshman defensive back Cashawn Beasley who has 29 tackles, 4 interceptions and 3 PBUs.
