Kansas High School forfeits playoff game after their star football player Rhett Lathers was killed in an auto accident
Rhett Lathers was a 17-year-old standout football player at Arkansas City High School who was expected to play in the playoffs this weekend.
Well, unfortunately, the season has been cut short, because the star football player was killed in a car accident that happened earlier this week.
The 17 year old star was one of four people that was in a Jeep that overturned in Oklahoma on Tuesday.
Lathers was the star linebacker and tailback for the football team. Because of the death, his team is going to forfeit their game this week, to mourn the loss of their star player.
“Understandably, members of our football team and coaching staff are deeply affected by this loss,” USD 470 said Thursday on Facebook. “With their wellbeing in mind, the Ark City High School Football Team will forfeit tomorrow’s game (Friday, Oct. 29) against McPherson.”
Please keep the family and friends in your prayers. We at NFL Draft Diamonds send our prayers to the family. We also wanted to showcase #42. Check out this play from last season in honor of Lathers.
