Predicting the Deshaun Watson trade | Where will he end up?

We predict Deshaun Watson will be traded very soon, and the team we feel lands him is the …………………………

There are rumors that have Deshaun Watson landing in either Carolina or Miami. That has been the two biggest teams with no real surprises, but I think one of the teams could offer more than the other. Let me break down the potential trades between the two teams, and let’s see which one makes the most sense.

Many are worried that he will be placed on the commissioner’s list but remember he cannot be placed on it yet, because his case is a civil case. There has not been any criminal charges yet.

Ian Rapoport talked about that this week on the NFL Network.

“According to the personal conduct policy, the latest version, a player can be placed on the commissioner’s exempt list if he is charged with a felony or a violent crime,” Rapoport replied. “As of right now, that does not seem to apply to Deshaun Watson.”

So with him technically being allowed to play, we need to look at the teams and try to make a trade that makes sense. There are many rumors that have the Texans looking for six pieces to get a trade done. I do not think that is going to happen, but of the two teams listed above, what players could be dealt along with draft picks make the most sense?

Let’s have fun and try to predict the trades with the two teams and then say which team we think he lands.

First up, I am going to make the Carolina Panthers trade projection. Now hear me out before closing the link. Deshaun Watson has a trade clause waiver. He has said it before he would waive his rights to play for the Dolphins. Also, the Dolphins have less taxes, so it becomes a richer deal for the Dolphins if Watson lands in Miami. So right now the Panthers are a long shot, but let’s see what we can come up with to make a trade.

Panthers land Deshaun Watson and his almost 16 million dollar contract this year. The Texans would actually save 10.5 million by trading Watson. So this already a solid option.

The Texans would land: Cornerback Donte Jackson, Tight End Ian Thomas, 2022 First Round Pick, and a 2023 First Round PIck. The Panthers end up giving up 2 first round picks and two starters to land their starting quarterback.

Now, let’s look at the Dolphins trade:

Dolphins land QB Deshaun Watson

Texans land 2023 two first round picks one from San Francisco and one of Miami’s, as well as a 2022 second round pick and CB Xavien Howard. (Disclaimer: If Watson is arrested or charged criminally before the 2023 NFL Draft the Dolphins 2023 first round pick is returned to the Phins. So it would be for a first, second, and Howard)

The Dolphins have to give up a big player to get Watson under the cap. Howard has not been happy for a while, and I think he is a pivotal piece to move at this point. He just restructured his contract and to be able to land 2 first round picks in 2023 is huge for the Texans. Especially gaining a second in this years draft.

So as you can tell, I think the Dolphins will end up with Watson.
