Prep-School Football player JauMarcus McFarland tragically dies in a freak elevator accident at the age of 18

JauMarcus McFarland had a dream of playing in the NFL. That all ended last week when an elevator in the student apartment complex fell on top of him and crushed him to death.

McFarland played football for Champion Prep Academy in Atlanta. Officials said the elevator malfunctioned.

Well Inspectors with the State Insurance Commissioner’s Office were on site and determined the elevators operating permit expired in August of 2020, per Fox 5 News in Atlanta.

“We can confirm that the operating permit for the elevators at this location expired in August of 2020. Inspections are required by state law to be done on an annual basis and it is the building owner’s responsibility to request this yearly inspection from our office. We do not have a record of any such request from this building.”

The family has hired an attorney. I extend my prayers to the family, friends and teammates of JauMarcus. This is such a horrific incident. A GoFundMe to help pay for the Funeral Expenses and create a Scholarship in JauMarcus name were created. If you would like to donate, you can do so by clicking here.
