Charleston Southern Freshman football player Lorven Florestal Jr. shot and killed
Charleston Southern University lost a football player this morning when Freshman walk-on Lorvens Floreestal Jr. a 19-year-old defensive end from Del Ray Beach, Florida was shot and killed in West Ashley early this morning.
Florestal was shot and killed in a random act of violence outside of a West Ashley residence early Sunday morning. The gunman remains at large. Authorities are still investigating the incident, but witnesses confirm the CSU football walk-on was an innocent bystander.
Charleston police responded about 2:50 a.m. to a location on Risher Street regarding a loud noise call. While officers were en route, gunshots were heard and police dispatch received calls reporting gunshots in the area. Two others were injured from the shooting.
