Ladarius Clardy an up and coming quarterback at Kennesaw State was with another person on Thursday morning in his car when someone began opening fire on their vehicle.
The shooting in the panhandle of Florida claimed the life of the Kennesaw State football player and injured another early in the vehicle. The other person’s name has not been identified but they are fighting for their life right now in the hospital.
According to the police report, Around 1 a.m., the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in Pensacola responded to a person shot call at the intersection of Fairfield and Hollywood. When deputies arrived to the scene, they discovered a vehicle in a wooded area nearby.
During the investigation, deputies found two men suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside the vehicle. The KSU football player, Ladarius Clardy, was pronounced dead on the scene.
A Sherrif named Chip Simmons said this to reporters.
“This was an intentional act,” Simmons said. “Someone fired over 50 rounds into the car … most of them into the car door … the driver’s door.”
Clardy was quite the competitor. He was a star at Pine Forest High School, where he was the Offensive Player of the Year consecutive years in a row. He finished his career throwing for nearly 6,000 yards and contributed to 83 touchdowns in three seasons at Pine Forest.
Please pray for the family. Investigators are pleading with the public to help them solve this homicide. A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of Clardy’s shooter.
We wanted to share a clip of Ladarius in high school in his honor. We at NFL Draft Diamonds are praying for the family.
