Akron Ohio football standout Kyree Young had fifteen plus offers from NCAA Division 1 teams before losing his life this week to gun violence.

Akron Police Department is reporting the death of a former talented high school football player. Kyree Young was shot and killed in Akron, Ohio this week.

Around 5:45 pm on Monday, police responded to a shooting in the city’s Chapel Hill neighborhood where the medical examiner’s office identified Kyree as a homicide victim.

Kyree was pronounced dead at the scene.

The star athlete was one of the most gifted players in the Akron area. He had several major college programs recruiting him. The 18-year-old 6-foot-1, 200-pound running back had offers from Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, West Virginia, Akron, Kent State, Boston College, Iowa State, Nebraska, Purdue, Texas A&M, Toledo, Michigan State, and Kentucky. He was a three-star recruit.

Police are still looking for information into Young’s death. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call police at 330-375-2490 or 330-375-2Tip.
