NAVY football player found dead while on leave from Naval Academy

Michael James was a defensive end/linebacker for the Naval Academy who was found unresponsive while on leave.

Navy defensive end and linebacker Michael Myles James, 22, a former football player at the Naval Academy, died while on summer leave, the Naval Academy announced Thursday.

James was recruited heavily by the Naval Academy to play defensive end and linebacker. He graduated high school from McEachern High School in Hiram, Georgia.

On June 23rd, police found James unresponsive. The cause of death is not determined at this time but they do not believe foul play has a part.

James was scheduled to graduate in 2022.

Navy Football Coach Ken Niumatalolo said the season would be dedicated to Myles.
