This week has been huge for the NFL and the LGBTQ community. Carl Nassib of the Las Vegas Raiders became the first active NFL player to come out as gay. Nassib signed a 3 year, 25 million dollar contract with the Raiders a year ago, and felt it was right to announce he was gay on social media.

It has blown up and tons of NFL and former NFL players have joined in the support of Carl Nassib. Nassib is currently the top selling jersey in the NFL over the past 48 hours, according to Fanatics.

The cool thing about the story is Nassib not only came out to get it off his chest, he also donated 100k dollars to the Trevor Project, and organization to prevent suicides in the LGBTQ community and youth. The NFL loved the news so much that they are matching the donation.

Jon Gruden had a great quote when it comes to the news on Nassib. He stated “I learned a long time ago what makes a man different is what makes him great.”

President Biden even had this to say about the news.

“To Carl Nassib and Kumi Yokoyama – two prominent, inspiring athletes who came out this week: I’m so proud of your courage. Because of you, countless kids around the world are seeing themselves in a new light today,” Biden said.
