1.What are your favorite things about playing football for Frostburg State?

My favorite things about playing football here are playing with my teammates and hanging out with them. I also like competing to win a conference ring each year.

2.How do you prepare for games?

Basic stuff like watching films, looking for tendencies, and gathering information. l write down a set of moves/pass-rush moves I’ll be doing in the game against opposing OL. I will work on it at practice. I also like to visualize doing the moves over and over again in my head as well.

3.If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

If it’s the past, then Derrick Thomas. He seems like a real fun guy to be around and I can get some tips to improve my game. If it’s present, probably Chandler Jones, I just like the way they pass-rush. He can beat you in different ways such as speed, speed to power, or just straight-up finesse. He mixes it up a lot, that’s why I like watching him. He’s not the strongest or the fastest but he’s just so technical.

4.What is your mindset when you are on the football field?

Play hard and have as much fun as I can. It’s a blessing to play this game and it’s not going to last forever, so I might as well have as much fun as I can

5.What sets you apart from other defensive linemen?

I pick up on things quickly and I guess my pass-rush ability and potential.

6.What  is your favorite workout?

I like to power/hang clean. I also like to squat, but it depends on how my body feels. After the weight room, I work on DL drills/techniques on the field.

7.What are your favorite moments from your football life?

Sacking the QB,TFLS, and celebrating big plays with my teammates.

8.What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

Madden 06 and I wanted to make some friends at that time. Now I’m doing this for my parents, to prove people wrong, and it would be nice to get paid doing what you love.

9.What should we know about Carl Igweh the person?

I like to have fun, and I’m pretty goofy, but I know when to be serious. 

10.What  would a team get in a player like you?

You’ll get a player that always wants to improve and will improve. You will also get a player that will fix his mistakes as quickly as possible and won’t always make the same mistakes over and over again. I mentioned earlier that I pick up on things quickly , so I’m a fast learner.

11.What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

I bring good energy to the football field. I don’t like to point fingers if things go wrong, just move on to the next play. I’m not very outspoken, but I let my play speak for itself.

12.What do you love about the game of football?

I just love the one on one aspect DL vs. OL. I know football is a team game, but those positions are generally more me vs. you. I like that a lot.
