1.What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I was about four years old when I played football and it was mostly an extra curriculum activity. It wasn’t until the age of six or seven where I liked the physicality of the sport.

2.What is your mindset when you are on the football field?

When I’m on the field I feel like I’m playing against my self. The only person that can beat me is me. That’s what I feel like competition is all about.

3.What are your favorite things about playing football for Sam Houston State?

Playing for Sam Houston has been wonderful. We have a group of guys that have one goal and that is to get better everyday. On and off the field they have been a pleasure to play with.

4.If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

I would like to talk to Mean Joe Green. He was a dominant force on the Steelers and a superstar in his town. I would like to know his mindset in the weight room and on the field before games. I also want to know how he juggles social life with football life.

5.What do you think are the keys to success on the football field?

Our defensive coordinator gave us two keys to a great football player and teammate. Number one is relentless effort from point A to point B. An average play is 4 to 6 seconds, it doesn’t take skill to play with an edge. The second point is to compete.  As I mentioned before, competing means being the best you can be.  The other team has nothing to do with our plan or mindset. The only people that can beat me is me.

6.What is your favorite workout?

I have big legs so squats would have to be my favorite.

7.What is a moment that improved you as a football player?

My junior year I was never solid at pass rush. I got my first sack in the last game of the season. From then on I have worked on becoming hybrid in the run and pass. From then on I have 11.5 sacks in my past two seasons.

8.What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

I’m really a reserved guy but I’m a team player. I love hyping my brothers on offense and defense. It’s necessary to bring energy on the field after big stops or hard hits. That’s what fuels me and my teammates.

9.What has been your biggest challenge in life?

My biggest challenge has been moving away from my family. This has been the longest I have gone without seeing them but they know as well as I know that I have a dream and a goal and I’ll do whatever it takes to achieve it.

10.What would a team get in a player like you?

Any team that will like to have me would get a relentless effort player that loves to play the game. I am a student of the game as well that will give 100% of my effort in every aspect of the game.

11. What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

We are looking forward to another championship. I’m not interested In personal stats. Another ring would be the greatest gift I could receive.

12.What sets you apart from other defensive linemen?

Most defensive lineman my size are only good at plugging up holes in the run game. I have worked hard in my craft to become versatile in the pass game to compliment my run game. I also have a little speed that is deceiving to most people as well.
