The Nations best high school running back just opted out of his senior year in high school….
Ok, we have seen players opt out of college due to COVID and NFL players opt out over safety, but the number one running back in the entire country announced on Twitter that he is opting out of his senior year of high school.
I have never seen this before. I personally do not understand it, and as a football player who wanted to play so bad at the next level before getting hurt, I would have never imagined sitting out.
I am blown away by people sitting out. People will say good for you, and heal your body and what not but let’s be real, opting out is sort of selfish. Many football players this season opted out and many players that opted out ended up dropping in the NFL draft.
They could have had legit reasons for opting out, but they still fell. Then you look at the NFL, almost everyone that opted out that was a back end roster player was cut the following year. Many of those players will not get another shot in the league.
I have talked to several NFL teams that question whether or not the kid has the passion to play the game. I get opting out of you are hurt, or need to heal, but stepping away from the game to focus of family sounds like you are not interested in the game.
Pretty soon kids will not even want to play football. We will be giving scholarships to kids that play Madden well. Because they have knowledge of the game. Man, this is lame. I cannot believe this, and as far as I am concerned he is no longer the best running back in high school. Someone just passed him. And someone who does not have the scholarship offers is coming take your spot while you rest! Better stay ready, because some no namer would never take a day off and that is who I would want on my team.
