Senior High School Football player died trying to save his older brother after a boating accident, both brothers died

Johnnie Magbie tried to save his older brother’s life and both brothers would end up drowning after a boat accident. Please pray for their family.

On Sunday, a senior high school football player from West Brunswick High School in North Carolina died trying to save his brother. Johnnie Magbie’s selfless attitude ended in an unimaginable tragedy.

The senior football star jumped into the water near Pelican Bay in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. trying to save his brother during a boating accident. Unfortunately, neither resurfaced, and the Horry County coroner’s office confirmed Tuesday morning that Magbie and his older brother, Ahykeem Jones, had drowned. The cause of death was asphyxiation.

Head Coach Brett Hickman posted this on his Twitter about the selfless Magbie.

The South Carolina Coast Guard said the brothers were wearing life jackets but crews found them in the water.

Please keep the family in your prayers in these rough times. This is such a tragic incident.
