Former NFL player and Asian-American football coach Eugene Chung told by an NFL team he is “not the right minority” in his job interview

Eugene Chung the former NFL Draft pick told reporters that he was discriminated against by an NFL team during an interview with their club.

Could an NFL team really be this dumb? Eugene Chung a former NFL offensive lineman recently applied for a coaching position with an NFL team and you would not believe what happened.

Chung was told he is not a minority by the team.

“It was said to me, ‘Well, you’re really not a minority,’” Chung told the Boston Globe.

Chung, an Asian-American whose parents are both Korean. Chung said he challenged the person interviewing him.

“I was like, ‘Wait a minute. The last time I checked, when I looked in the mirror and brushed my teeth, I was a minority,’” Chung said. “So I was like, ‘What do you mean I’m not a minority?’ ”

The interviewer responded, “You are not the right minority we’re looking for.”

Chung is speaking out and his son Kyle is super proud of his father for speaking out.

With the way the world has been treating Asian-American’s as of late, the NFL should be ashamed. The Rooney Rule was put in place for NFL teams to give minorities an interview, but it sounds like that is not the case. It sounds like the NFL team that interviewed Chung obviously was not looking for an Asian-American for the position. That is pretty sad, but hopefully Chung will catch on soon, he is a great person.
