2022 NFL Draft Prospect: Dom Peterson, DT, University of Nevada

Dom Peterson Nevada NFL Draft 2022
Nevada pass rusher Dom Peterson has man power, he is one of the best pass rushers in the 2022 NFL Draft. I love his play and his tenacity.

When I look at defensive lineman, especially defensive tackles, there are certain traits I am looking for. First off, you have to be able to push a pile backwards, I want someone that is going to be in your face, and I want a player with quick feet and mobility. Nevada defensive tackle Dom Peterson checks every box for me.

Peterson was named to the preseason watch list for the Chuck Bednarik, Bronko Nagurski, and Outland Trophy for a reason at the start of last season. He is a DAWG! He has 16.5 sacks in his career and 32.5 tackles for loss. He may not be the tallest player, but neither is Aaron Donald. He has a motor that does not quit though.

Peterson has amassed 111 total tackles at the defensive tackle position, and in just 8 games last season he was able to pick up 4.5 sacks and 7 tackles for loss.

The defensive tackle class in the 2021 NFL Draft class was horrendous, but the class in 2022 has players that I love, and maybe none more than number 99 for Nevada. Dom Peterson is a great kid, and I am expecting a huge season from the big man up front this season.

NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Report:

Dom Peterson is not a 6’3, 310 pound defensive tackle, but his motor is relentless. When you look at defensive tackles in the league, many of them are on a rotation. Peterson is a little small standing at 6’0 tall, but he is not pushed around very much when it comes to offensive lineman. I was watching film of Peterson where pushed the offensive lineman into the quarterback to get the sack. He never had to touch the quarterback because he was able to get under his opponent and put him in the quarterbacks lap. This is one tough ass dude, and I am a fan. – Damond Talbot, Owner, NFL Draft Diamonds
