2021 NFL Draft Prospect: Kwity Paye, EDGE, University of Michigan

Kwity Paye Michigan NFL Draft Prospect
Michigan EDGE Kwity Paye is a strong defensive lineman that we feel can play both inside and outside as a rusher.

Kwity Paye is one of the most effective players in the run game. He has solid pursuit, and great angles. He has been super productive in his time at Michigan and he is currently trending as the top EDGE rusher in the 2021 NFL Draft.

His potential as a pass rusher should intrigue NFL teams as well. He has an incredibly high ceiling. Paye stands at 6’4 and weighs 270 pounds. Teams like the Broncos and Lions are two teams I could see taking Paye early. Do not rule out the Falcons at four either. The 22 year old if coached right could end up being a 10 plus sack player every year.

He racked up 29 pressures in just four games this year. That is insane, considering he is getting pressure on a quarterback 23 percent of all his snaps played in 2020.

I think if you are looking for a polished player, Paye is not the fully polished pass rusher like Chase Young. I think he can be there and surpass Young though in time. Teams cannot over think this situation. He is a solid player with some stupid athleticism.

NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes:

Kwity Paye on a team like the Broncos with Von Miller and Bradley Chubb could be one of the nastiest picks. Could you imagine that rotation? I think if you give Paye one year to learn behind a Von Miller he will become a Pro Bowler moving forward. Paye is a dog, he has great moves, and push, and is excellent in the run game. Overall he is a player that will be drafted in the first round. I would not be shocked if it is in the top 15. He should be the first EDGE rusher drafted. We will see but he is a pretty solid player. – Damond Talbot, NFL Draft Diamonds owner
