NFL Draft Diamonds Free Agent Interview: Darren Dowdell, Tight End

Darren Dowdell, Tight End Free Agent Tight End
Free Agent Tight End Darren Dowdell recently sat down with NFL Draft Diamonds writer Justin Berendzen. Check out his latest interview.

Hello, I am @jrberendzen on Twitter and this is one of my free agent interviews where I ask very deserving free agents questions about the players themselves and about what a team would get in these players. All of these players should get picked up by NFL, CFL, and XFL teams and get a shot at being a career football player. So I hope you all read this interview on Keenan and follow his journey on Twitter @DDouble_81

1.What is your mindset when you are on the football field?

My mindset when I am on any field is to dominate while perfecting my assignments and not let anyone or anything get in my way. To quickly kick start my mental state, I will briefly remember a dark time in my life where I wished football was apart of my normalized routine , as well as how far I’ve came since then.

2.What are your favorite moments from your football life?

My favorite moment of all time was when I was 7 years old and I caught my first clean one handed pass while in action with teammates after practice, playing a game of “throw em up bust em up” and seeing my coaches and parents reaction after the catch.

3.If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Cam Newton, because we have a history in Atlanta together growing up here , him as well as his father mentored and trained me throughout my high school career and I would love to catch him up on some life changing events that I had to grow threw in order to get an opportunity to even mention him in a response .

4.What role do you hope to have if you make it into the NFL?

I hope to have an important role in an organization that fits me as much as I will fit the organization, while being a leader on and off the field and providing guidance for the community around me. Whether it’s scoring the first touchdown in a big game or being the first to donate to an organization who truly needs it.

5.What is your favorite workout?

My favorite work are any footwork and agility/explosiveness drills on or off a field.

6.What made you decide you wanted to be a football player ?

I decided I wanted to be a football player once I noticed how talented I was at it and when I started to witness how the game prepared me for life challenges while building character and other moral skills within me.

7.What do you hope to achieve as a football player going forward?

I hope to achieve goals that have yet to be reached on the field as far as catching percentages as well as reaching and connecting to as many kids as possible with similar challenges throughout their life in the community.

8.What do you think are the keys to success on the football field?

The keys to success on the field are similar to any success off the field , consistent dedication and work ethic as well as a mindset durable enough to be broken down and rebuilt even stronger then before .

9.What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

The type of energy I bring onto a field is genuine resilience and tenacity. Anyone and everyone around me will feel as if they are unstoppable against any opponent and will act as so.

10.What would a team get in a player like you?

In a player such as myself a team would be getting a outgoing player who shows up early everyday with a plan ,and ready to dominate while spreading that energy into everyone near me.

11.What has been your biggest challenge in life?

My biggest challenge in life has been accepting my flaws as a young adult and making the corrections while moving forward without looking back with disgust at myself for even having made so many pointless mistakes .

12.What sets you apart from other tight ends?

What sets me apart from any tight end , is my versatile aggression in the game while always being explosive , sure handed and comprehensive of my assignments and being able to complete my assignment even when a mismatch is ,and even when it isn’t in my favor.
