Could the Carolina Panthers really trade the house to land veteran quarterback Deshaun Watson?
There have been rumors floating out there at the Carolina Panthers are willing to trade several first round picks and even include a player like Christian McCaffrey.
This all started when David Newton said that owner David Tepper would do whatever is possible to land a solid quarterback.
“The Panthers will do whatever it takes to get Deshaun Watson, and that includes giving up three first-round draft picks and Christian McCaffrey,” said David Newton, who covers the Panthers for ESPN’s NFL Nation.
“Owner David Tepper wants to win a Super Bowl. He’s made that clear. He understands it takes a marquee quarterback to do that. If you look at recent history, outside of (Kansas City Chiefs quarterback) Patrick Mahomes, the quickest way to do that is to trade for a marquee quarterback and not draft one in the first round. Just ask Tampa Bay.”
Could you imagine if the Panthers traded their first in 2021 which is the 8th overall, another couple firsts in coming year’s drafts and Christian McCaffrey for Deshaun Watson?
I know that would be insane but Jason LaCanfora is stating the Panthers are seriously thinking this.
Carolina is beyond smitten with Watson and owner David Tepper is fairly consumed by the prospect of landing him and no matter what happens with this transcendent young quarterback (and I still believe he is dealt at some point), the Panthers are going to play some role in the process.
If the Panthers could land him it would be a monster move. The Texans could finally start to right their wrong with some of the past bad decisions they have made.
