Marty Hurney expected to be the new Washington Football Team’s GM
By: NFLHeads2020
In what to me was a bit of a surprising move, the Washington Football Team general manager position looks like it will be given to former Carolina Panthers general manager Marty Hurney. Hurney has been in the NFL for years, starting in 1988 for the Washington Redskins as a public relations worker.
From there Hurney became an assistant GM in San Diego, and finally the GM for the Carolina Panthers from 2002-2012, and 2017-2020.
Hurney’s more recent years as a GM have been extremely unimpressive, and I do not know that I would still trust him at this point to build a championship roster, but he has worked with Ron Rivera so there may be some good chemistry there.
Washington may have a good thing going with what they have, but they are still going to need some awesome leadership to make them a contender.
