Will anyone claim Mark Ingram today and his salary?

Today, Mark Ingram is going to go through the waivers. He will likely pass right through, but any team can claim him today. What would they have to pay if they did claim him? That is the biggest question. Well let’s break it down.

If Mark Ingram is claimed today, the team claiming him would be on the hook for 5 million dollars.

His salary in 2021 is just 5 million. That is not cheap, but if you are a team trying to make the Super Bowl push, is it worth it?

This year Ingram has sat out most of the year and played sparingly. He is probably pissed off and ready to smash some heads. The former Alabama running back rushed for 299 yards and two touchdowns this year. Five million is quite a bit for a contract in 2021.

Right now players like Alvin Kamara, Kareem Hunt, and Austin Ekeler are making 5 million per year. With that being said, Ingram will likely slide through the waivers unclaimed. This would allow the new team to negotiate a new contract.

The problem is he will not be able to play in this week’s game. So this would be a futures type deal. But if a playoff team like the Bills per se do in fact sign him and then win, he would be eligible to play in the Super Bowl.

Out of the four teams remaining, the Bills have the worst running game. Adding a player like Mark Ingram makes sense after they lost Zach Moss for the year. Can the Bills add Ingram? They could, but will they?

They will probably look into it, and I cannot blame them if they do.
