Predicting the Head Coaching Changes around the NFL

Urban Meyer Jacksonville Jaguars head coach
The Jacksonville Jaguars end up turning to one of the best college coaches ever in Urban Meyer.

As of right now there are expected to be five open head coaching positions in the NFL, so I wanted to do my best and predict which team lands which coach. So let’s have some fun and see if we are able to get a couple right!

Jacksonville Jaguars – Urban Meyer – Yep, the former Ohio State coach is my front runner for the head coaching job with the Jaguars. Jaguars will get the first overall pick, and have tons of cap space. Meyer lands a pretty solid team with tons of young talent.

Atlanta Falcons – Eric Bienemy – The guru offensive mind from the Chiefs lands with Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley and more. The offense is not the biggest problem but it is the biggest strength. Maybe with a change of coaching he can get the Falcons off to a hot start. They need someone to help them out, and at this point he makes the most sense.

New York Jets – Lincoln Riley – The Jets try like hell to pry away a big name candidate like Brian Daboll and others, but they turn the Jets down. The Jets end up going with the coach they know can produce and work with quarterbacks. Riley has worked with Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray and Jalen Hurts. His track record is good. Jets have to pay big money to lure him to New York.

Detroit Lions – Robert Saleh – The Lions offense is not the biggest problem, but their defense needs some improvement. Saleh is a Michigan native and seems like a great fit for the Lions. I think he has the juice to change the losing mentality for the Lions.

Houston Texans – Matt Eberflus – The Colts defensive coordinator lands with the Texans. This happens after the Texans select their new GM Scott Fitterer from the Seahawks. Fitterer is blown away by Eberflus’ interview and gives him a shot to turn the team around.
