Draft buzz: Catching up with Baylor EDGE William Bradley-King

William Bradley-King Baylor
Baylor pass rusher William Bradley-King is one of the biggest underdogs in the 2021 NFL Draft. He recently sat down with NFL Draft Diamonds writer Jon-Michael Salter.

The recent draft buzz on Baylor edge rusher William Bradley-King, has been very consistent. A strong bodied, run stopper, that can causes problems in the run game and is a disruptive pass rusher. Bradley-King is a violent defensive presence, with a great punch at the point of contact. His eye discipline is fantastic, and he is great at chasing down runners, and has a non-stop motor. More than just a pass rusher, King, is a legit leader on and off the field. I had an opportunity to get on the phone with the rising star, and ask him about his presence away from the field? I also asked him what it is like dealing with the draft buzz, and what it’s like playing in the power five?

“As far as who I am away from the field? I would say I am a simple guy. A family man first and foremost. I am all about my people back home. I want to be a guy who others can look up to. I want to be a leader and show everyone in my city you can make it. Prove to them that we can be successful if you just put in that hard work. That’s who I am really. I am a guy that is all about his community and showing them love. They need to know that I will always be here for them, and I will put on for them. I feel like a lot of people get away from home and stop showing love. That will never be me. I will always be family first, and that includes my hometown.”

Moving forward, he touched on the recent draft buzz and what it has been like dealing with it?

“I keep my focus on what I can take care of. The things I can control, that is all I keep my mind on. I can’t sit here and worry about anything being said about me, good or bad. That is a waste of time for me. You can get complacent. You start listening to what all these people are saying, and you get out of your zone. I don’t want to be that guy at all. I need to keep focused on my team, on my craft, and on getting better every day. That is all I should ever be focused on. Playing here with the big boy schools. You know the power five is different. It is really tough. As far as playing at this level, I mean it is all football in the end. If you start to treat it differently, you start overthinking man. I need to be me and continue to be who I am on and off the field. I owe it to my family and my community to keep my head in the game. To focus on my own grind. All the rest will have to come when it comes.”

Before I sat down with King, I asked my scouting source about the prospects play?

“I liked him a lot in Arkansas, and I think he has grown into a great prospect. A guy who I believe can be a difference-maker. I think if he lands in the right spot, he will be a good one. I think he has the strength you like. He can rush the passer and shut down the run. He can help a team. I think wherever he lands he will be a leader and a guy that you can depend on to do the right thing. That says a lot to me. So you get a kid that can help on the field and in the locker room. To me that is value.

Like I say at the end of all my interview and articles. All you need to do is put on the tape and decide for yourself. William Bradley-King, is a guy that can be a difference maker. He has the ability you love as a fan. If given the opportunity he can be a guy that the NFL world, sees as a star and a leader.
