2021 NFL Draft Prospect: Trevon Moehrig, S, Texas Christian University
Trevon Moehrig has turned into a big time prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft. The junior safety is one of the most athletic players in the country. He is a ball hawk that is not afraid to come up and lay wood.
He is a true centerfielder, he reminds me of Jordan Poyer of the Buffalo Bills. If you play him in a single high safety he will succeed. He has great range, and amazing ball skills.
The Texas native has great vision. He is able to read out plays from behind the linebackers and make plays. He has been used in man to man as well, but he is a better floating safety.
Last year, Pro Football Focus rated him as the highest graded safety in college football. Moehrig only allowed 2 of 17 contested targets to be caught last year and came away with seven takeaways.
In his career, Trevon has recorded 116 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 6 interceptions, 25 passes blocked, 2 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery.
Moehrig has played in 32 games since joining TCU and he will be a star in the making at the next level.
NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes
Trevon Moehrig is a baller. The kid is a little lean, but he make plays in the secondary. If you let him sit back and watch the play develop he always seems to be around the ball. If you try him deep he will be in perfect coverage. I think he is one of the top safeties of the 2021 NFL Draft Class if he declares. The draft class in 2021 is weak at the safety position. Remember his name, he is special. – Damond Talbot, NFL Draft Diamonds Owner
