Report: 49ers are working out safety Obi Melifonwu

49ers are expected to workout former Raiders second round pick Obi Melifonwu this week. The former UConn standout is a big time physical specimen.

We are learning that former Raiders draft pick Obi Melifonwu will work out with the San Francisco 49ers.

The former UConn standout was a second round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Melifonwu was a dog at UConn and started all 13 games his senior year racking up 118 tackles and four interceptions.

Obi is a physical safety that stands at 6’4 and is a freak athlete. He ran a 4.40 forty at the Combine and also had a 44 inch vertical and a 11’9 inch broad jump.

His career in the NFL was hampered by injuries, but he has played for the Raiders and the Patriots.
