We are learning that former Alabama cornerback Cyrus Jones will work out for the Texans less than a year after having open-heart surgery.

Last year, Cyrus Jones the former New England Patriots draft pick and nickel cornerback had to step away from football after needing open-heart surgery.

Jones has played for the Patriots, Ravens, and the Broncos.

Jones has worked his tail off to get back to prove he can play the game. Well, he was a pretty hot commodity when teams found out he was healthy. Several teams called him and the Houston Texans are the first up.

The Texans are expected to fly out Jones and work him out this week. If he was to wait the six days and get there tomorrow he would actually be eligible to sign on December 10th if everything pans out. Could you imagine the former Alabama cornerback signing a contract with an NFL team just one year after having open heart surgery?

This could be one of the coolest things ever. My brother had open heart surgery when I was a child and he was told he could not play football. So to see Cyrus getting another shot, it is huge. I’m cheering for you brother.
