Could the Jets be looking at Bill Cowher to coach them next season?
How can you save Sam Darnold’s career? Maybe you hire a coach like Bill Cowher. I mean, Boomer Esiason was on the WFAN radio this week and made a comment about Bill Cowher stating the Jets head coaching position is attractive.
“He was saying to me yesterday, he’s the one that told me the Jets job is going to be really attractive, and they could hire whomever they want, and he told me he loves [G.M.] Joe Douglas,” Esiason said of Cowher.
“All I know is that yesterday, [Cowher] was showing me and Nate [Burleson] film of him coaching on the sideline where he was mic’ed up, and we looked at each other like, ‘Hmm, what does that mean?’” Esiason said. “Is he sending a message? I’ve worked with him for 14 years and I’ve never seen that.”
I am not sure if Trevor Lawrence or Sam Darnold would be in the debate for starting quarterback, but that would be pretty dope. According to bestsportsbooks.co, Lawrence has the best odds to land on the New York Jets. Could you imagine Cowher returning to the sidelines? I am sure these coaches get the itch to coach again, just like players get the itch to return and play after sitting out some time.
Bill Cowher is 161-99-1 in his career and was one of the longest tenured coaches serving one team when he retired from the NFL. He has the highest career winning percentage in Steelers history.
I would be interested to see what quarterback Cowher would want. I mean Sam Darnold has been given a bad rap. He is a good quarterback, but is he better than Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence? That is the million dollar question.
