Former Texas HS superstar running back Traion Smith died in a freak fishing accident
Traion Smith ran for 2000 times three years in a row for Cameron Yoe. The 22 year old along with Desmond Williams a 30 year old were killed when a small boat they were fishing on turned over.
Smith rushed for more than 7,500 yards at Cameron and scored 104 touchdowns. He was a superstar, so this is such a tragic loss.
The two men tried to swim to shore after the boat overturned, but couldn’t make it.
Williams’ wife was present and called police according to reports. They could not get to them and both men drowned.
Smith was selected as the Associated Press Sports Editors Class 3A offensive player of the year, based on his regular-season performance in which he racked up 2,022 yards and 36 touchdowns on 185 carries, back in 2015. He was a superstar in Texas.
Smith had committed to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor out of high school.
We at NFL Draft Diamonds are asking for prayers for both the Smith and the Williams family. Rest in Peace!
