2021 NFL Draft Prospect: Tariq Castro-Fields, CB, Penn State University

Tariq Castro-Fields Penn State CB NFL Draft Breakdown
Penn State cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields is a big kid, that plays the ball well. He is not the most physical corner but in run support he is a beast.

Penn State CB Tariq Castro-Fields is a 6’0 cornerback that NFL teams love, but he brings a little tenacity too. When it comes to the run game, his closing speed is so amazing.

As a junior last year he started all 12 games, he finished the season with 52 tackles, 3 tackles for loss which was the best among all Penn State corners and had 8 pass break-ups.

This year Castro-Fields has started three games and has been pretty solid in all three games. He has played in 40 career games and broke 100 tackles last week against Maryland.

He has 106 tackles and 10 tackles for loss. He has 22 pass break ups and three career interceptions.

This year, teams are doing their best to stay away from #5. That is smart, because he will make you pay if you come his way.

NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes

When it comes to run support, most cornerbacks do not want to come up and help. That is not the case with Tariq Castro-Fields. The 6’0 cornerback has a knack for shutting down the outside run plays in his direction. I love the ability to cover bigger receivers. He has heart, and he will not quit on a play. His best trait is he can play man-to-man and in zone. He is a good player. – Damond Talbot, NFL Draft Diamonds Owner
