2021 NFL Draft Prospect: Samuel Cosmi, OT, University of Texas

Samuel Cosmi Texas Offensive tackle draft breakdown
Samuel Cosmi opted out of the 2020 NCAA season yesterday and will focus on the 2021 NFL Draft. Was it the best move?

Samuel Cosmi could have come out last year as a redshirt sophomore and I think he would have been a top 3 round draft pick.

Cosmi is one of the best offensive tackles in the 2021 NFL Draft. He is huge, standing at 6’7 and weighing just over 300 pounds.

Cosmi is super athletic for his size. He is experienced at both tackle spots, and has handled the transition from right to left extremely well.

He is a physical tackle with good hands. His footwork is sound and he is tough in the run game. Cosmi is better at directing his blocks away from the ball than just powering his guys to the ground.

He has tons of upside because I feel he is still pretty raw at his position.

In the run game he is a consistent blocker that is able to get the player out of the way. He will need to add some weight, he is tall, so it looks as if he is a little light in the pants.

NFL teams are going to fall in love with Cosmi because of his athleticism. He will hear his name called likely in the top two rounds because teams are looking for more athletic players at the moment for the tackle position.

NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes

Samuel Cosmi is a big boy with good lateral movement. I like maulers on the offensive line, and I would not say Cosmi is a mauler, but he is very sound. He is able to move the defender where he wants him to go, and is extremely smart. If you are looking for Cosmi to just downright do someone dirty, I don’t think you will see much of that. He needs to add some weight, but he is a gamer. – Damond Talbot, NFL Draft Diamonds, Owner
