Will the Colts Win the Superbowl for the First Time Since 2006?

Darius Leonard Colts Super Bowl
The Colts are super underrated right now. No one is talking about them as contenders but they are playing high quality football.

Go back to the beginning of the 2020 NFL season and there was plenty of optimism surrounding the chances of the Indianapolis Colts. Having missed out on a place in the play offs in 2019, the Colts made a few changes to their roster, with some of the changes coming in crucial positions to overcome injuries. Philip Rivers came in at quarterback and looked good for much of the of training camp. The form of Rivers throughout the season will have a significant impact on how far the Colts can go.

With legal sports betting now live in Indiana, there has never been a better time to back the Indianapolis Colts to win the Superbowl. You can find out more about all the available sportsbooks at https://gambleindiana.com and check out the latest odds for the Colts to taste success this season. You can even take advantage of the many bonuses available at the bookmakers throughout the NFL.

In terms of the Colts chances of winning the Superbowl for the first time since 2006, much will depend on the consistencyof Rivers. There is no doubt he has the talent to take the current Colts roster all the way but he must raise his game from last season. Despite enjoying a 66% completion and 4,615 yards through the air, there were 23 turnovers, which equals the number of touchdown passes achieved by Rivers for the Chargers in 2019. A repeat of those statistics will not do the Colts any favors.

At the time of writing, Rivers has played 7 games for the Colts in the 2020 season and made 10 touchdown passes. He has seen 6 interceptions and if Rivers continues along the same path, he is set to achieve superior figures to last season.

At the beginning of the campaign, many onlookers believed the AFC South to be a wide-open division in 2020, with the Colts and Tennessee Titans as the favorites. With 7 games played in the division at the time of writing, the prediction seems to be correct and both teams are clear at the top, with the Colts having won 5 of their 7 games to date. The most recent victory came against the Detroit Lions and Rivers produced three touchdown passes in the second quarter to help the Colts to a 41-21 victory.

It was a tremendous all-round performance by Rivers, who made mostly short passes to the outside or over the middle. However, when the time came to go long, Rivers delivered by throwing a 29-yard pass to Nyheim Hines. The pure energy of Hines is also something to note going forward this season and the 23-year-old running back looked full of it throughout the game at Ford Field.

The Colts would be extremely disappointed to miss out on a playoff spot this season, especially considering the start they have made to 2020. If they win the Division, the path through to the Superbowl will be tough but it is exciting times for Colts fans.
