Is the Momentum Now with the Broncos After Their Comeback Against the Chargers?

Broncos were able to get past the Chargers and Drew Lock has the Broncos on the rise. They look great right now!

Denver Broncos started the 2020 NFL season with a narrow 2-point defeat against the Tennessee Titans and it led to a disappointing opening few weeks of the campaign. Following the 16-14 loss against the Titans, the Broncos suffered a 21-26 defeat against Pittsburgh Steelers and a 28-10 loss at the hands of Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

That left the Broncos with a 0-3 record heading into the 4th week of the season where they picked up their first victory. It came against the struggling New York Jets, who went 0-4 following the 37-28 win for the Broncos. A second win of the season came against New England Patriots but that was quickly followed by a comprehensive defeat at the hands of Kansas City Chiefs.

The heavy loss against the Chiefs came just as Denver appeared to be coming into form. It was far from being the great build up they were hoping for ahead of the meeting with Los Angeles Chargers on the 1st of November. Heading into the fourth quarter of the game and it seemed the Broncos were well on their way to a second successive defeat and a 2-5 record. Come the end of the third quarter, the Broncos were down 24-10 and fans watching on were expecting to see the offense embarrass itself in the final quarter in attempt to get back into the game.

Even the most optimistic of Broncos fans would have been hesitant in backing their team to win the game from that position. The Broncos fans on the gamblecolorado.com were unlikely to be using any of the highlighted sportsbooks to have a wager on their team coming out on top.

However, what happened in the fourth quarter of the game must go down as the biggest moment for this team since the 2015 Super Bowl. Remember, there was a time in the game against the Chargers, where the Broncos were 24-3 down and nothing was going their way. Having started the comeback in the third quarter, the Broncos had possession of the ball going into the fourth quarter and a 43-yard Jerry Jeudy catch and run and a 9 yard strike from Drew Lock to Albert Okwuegbunamsaw the deficit reduced to 7 points with just under 12 minutes to play.

The Chargers stretched their advantage by a further 3 points,but Broncos fans had hope when Lock found DaeSean Hamilton for a 40 yard touchdown. Then, with no time remaining on the clock, wide receiver KJ Hamler caught a 1-yard touchdown pass from Lock to secure his first game winning touchdown and seal the Broncos a remarkable 30-31 victory.

The franchise now hopes to build on the tremendous win. Speaking after the game, Phillip Lindsay, who scored a 55-yard touchdown, said, “It was a great win, but we’ve got to go back to work and find ways to do something in the beginning of the game so that we’re not in predicaments like this.”

There is plenty of work to do to catch the Kansas City Chiefsat the top of the AFC West. However, this result and the performance in the latter stages of the game could be the moment the Broncos’ young offense needed to kick-start their season.
