Ron Rivera surprised by his team after they posted 400 of his friend’s cardboard cutouts in the stadium

Ron Rivera has been fighting cancer, and today he received a pretty cool gesture. His closest friends and family made cardboard cutouts to support him.

Washington surprised head coach Ron Rivera with his own cardboard fan section that includes his family, friends and dogs.

Rivera continues to coach while being treated for lymph node cancer.

Washington coach Ron Rivera said getting cancer can be overwhelming but he said he’s boosted by the support he’s received.

There were around 400 cardboard cutouts purchased in support of Rivera. Players and coaches are wearing shirts that read “Rivera Strong.” Rivera has squamous cell cancer.

It has been rough today for Rivera. He had to sit on the bench at the start of the third quarter. He is strong, and we are rooting for him.
