2021 NFL Draft Prospect: Justus Reed, DE, Virginia Tech

Justus Reed Virginia Tech
Former Youngstown State pass rusher Justus Reed made the decision to play at Virginia Tech and boy is it paying off after week 1!

In his first game with the Hokies, Justus Reed was unblockable. He has 2 sacks already in the ACC after transferring from Youngstown State University last season.

Justus Reed exploded as a sixth-year senior at Youngstown State, posting 42 tackles, 19 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks last season, and the Florida native has been placed in the transfer portal.

Reed started his college career with the Florida Gators and eventually transferred to Youngstown State after an injury-plagued 2016 redshirt sophomore season. Injuries then cost him part of the 2017 season (he still had 5 sacks in 7 games) and a torn Achilles prevented him from playing in 2018.

Because of injuries Reed was given a 7th year and boy is he making it count. Last week the Hokies pass rusher was a beast.

The 6030, Clearwater, Florida native was a force on the field. In his career he has recorded 66 tackles and 19 sacks in just 30 career games. In his first game with the Hokie he registered 5 tackles and 2 sacks. North Carolina State offensive lineman could not block him. The kid has a knack for getting after the quarterback and he will get a shot to play on Sunday’s.

NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes

Justus Reed made the decision to return to the FBS and I was not sure how it would work out but man did he impress the hell out of me on Saturday. Reed dominated the NC State offensive line and he proved he deserved to be playing there. Reed’s two sacks in his first game were impressive. He is a pass rusher and they are hard to find. Reed is going to be playing on Sunday’s, if he keeps dominating the ACC his stock will skyrocket. – Damond Talbot, NFL Draft Diamonds, Owner
