The Fantasy Football Friday Flex is where we name our FLEX Play of the Week. And for Week 1 the FLEX Play of the Week is…
FLEX Play of the Week: James Robinson/ RB/ Jacksonville Jaguars
By now I am sure you have heard rumblings of James Robinson. Robinson is a native of Rockford, IL, about 90 miles northwest of Chicago; near the Illinois/Wisconsin border. Coming out of high school Robinson broke the Illinois record for career rushing yards and decided to play for the Illinois State Redbirds. Robinson accounted for over 4400 career rushing yards at Illinois State showcasing his ability to handle workhorse duties. Robinson earned an invite to the East-West Shrine Game where he put on a phenomenal display. Robinson produced one TD and 136 yards on 9 touches. Robinson displayed big-play ability posting a run of more than 60 yards and a reception of more than 45 yards in the game. Despite the performance, he fell undrafted. Jaguars scout Marty Miller got an assist when his wife mentioned that Robinson was still available so he contacted Robinson.
Robinson has drawn rave reviews during camp from players and coaches. Some reports are that Robinson played a role in the team letting go of Leonard Fournette because he has been that impressive during camp. Additionally, Ryquell Armstead was put on the COVID IR list and Devine Ozigbo landed on IR with a hamstring injury opening the doors for Robinson to get serious work Week 1. Chris Thompson could cut into his work a little bit but if any goalline rushing opportunities come up against the Colts, then Robinson will undoubtedly handle those. To the surprise of some, Robinson is fully capable in pass protection meaning he may even stay on the field in some 3rd Down scenarios. The fantasy stars are aligning for Robinson to come out of the gates hot and he should earn about 15 carries.
Production Predicition: 15 carries for 73 yards and 2 catches for 19 yards with 1 TD
