Zaire Jones
Zaire Jones is a good playmaker in Youngstown State’s secondary. He recently sat down with NFL Draft Diamonds writer Jimmy Williams.

What is your major/minor? During your collegiate experience, have you participated in any other activities or campus organizations other than football?
I studied 3 years in Medicine, Health and Society at Vanderbilt,in addition to completing my education at Youngstown State in General Studies. 

What do your teammates say is your best quality?
I have an infinite love for the game, because of the relationships that are created I express that love to all of my teammates, they would call me reliable and trustworthy a brother.

What kind of role do you see yourself in on the team? What scheme and/or position suits your skill set?
I am a leader on our team, but we all hold each other accountable. I love to push my teammates through my work ethic. I’m a versatile safety. I have played in 4 different collegiate systems for notable coaches. 

Who is the best player you have ever played against in college?
Trey Lance for NDSU. He didn’t throw the ball much against us, but he has made some impressive throws on tap

Throughout your career, which one of your teammates has impressed you the most?
Zac Cunningham my freshman year at Vanderbilt. My first time seeing a guy who’s 6’4 with the sideline to sideline speed he had. He had a natural feel for the game of football 

Describe a time in your life when you were able to overcome a struggle.
The Death of my Grandfather 

If you didn’t play football, what other sport would you play?
If I did not play football, I would have played basketball. I strongly believe I would have been one of the top players in the state if I would have continued to play. 

What is something that you are most proud of? What would you say is your biggest achievement?
I am the first generation college grad in my family. 

Describe one of the most memorable plays of your collegiate career.
Interception for 6 against Illinois State 

Do you have a favorite athlete or professional team? Is there a player that you model your game after?
Tyrann Mathieu is one of my favorite players. Eddie Jackson is a guy I love to watch on tape and model my game after 

Who is your favorite music artist? What gets you pumped before a game?
I listen to a lot of artists, but I would say just about any Louisiana rapper can turn me up before a game

What is your favorite comfort food?
I love seafood. I have a twin sister who is vegan. She has a strong influence on my eating habits 

Do you have a favorite movie or actor?
I’m not a big movie guy. So I want to offer a book instead, it’s a quick read “ the go-giver” bob burg  

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies? Any secret talents?
In my free time I play basketball with friends, and I read at least 2 hours a day. Secret talents would have to be bowling. I lettered in bowling in high school. 

Who or what motivates you the most?
My granddad was a man of strong character. One of the hardest working men I’ve witnessed. He was consistent and detailed in everything. He was diagnosed with cancer. Seeing him fight until his last breath instilled in me that there was never a circumstance where it was ok to give in. That mindset has been implemented in all aspects of my life. I live through him
