Five players we think could be surprise cuts

Alshon Jeffery
I would not be surprised if the Eagles cut ties with veteran wide receiver Alshon Jeffery.

The NFL has just a few days to cut their rosters down. On September 5th, teams will need to get their 55 man team roster in place, and then they will be able to build their practice squads. Well, I have been looking at rosters and I came up with five players that we could see being cut that we consider would be shocking cuts. Let’s look!

1.) Alshon Jeffery, WR, Philadelphia Eagles – The Eagles added tons of players to their weaponry, and while many think Desean Jackson is the odd man out, I think Jeffery will be the guy that receives the bad news. Jeffery has been banged up over the years, but the Eagles are going younger in this position.

2.) Curtis Samuel, WR, Carolina Panthers – The Panthers signed Robby Anderson and Seth Roberts this off-season. I would not be shocked to see if the team dangles Samuel out as trade bait. I think several teams would have interest in him, but if they cannot find any suitors I could see him getting the pink slip.

3.) Gareon Conley, CB, Houston Texans – The former Raiders first round pick is slated to start for the Texans this year, but I would not be shocked if he was released. I could see the team going with Lonnie Johnson Jr. or Keion Crossen opposite of Bradley Roby.

4.) Bryce Love, RB, Washington Football Team – Love is not even getting first team reps at this point. The team recently drafted Antonio Gibson and I think that they will be in the running for Leonard Fournette. I would not be surprised if the former Stanford back is cut.

5.) Trent Murphy, DE, Buffalo Bills – The Buffalo Bills like Murphy and he came on strong at the end of the year, but I think the Bills will move forward without him. Bills keep Daryl Johnson their former draft pick and Bryan Cox Jr. who has impressed over Murphy.
