What is your major/minor? Did you participate in any other activities or campus organizations other than football?
My major is General Studies with a focus in Business. I’m really not active in any other organizations, however when we do community service I have volunteered to help kids after school.

What do your teammates say is your best quality?
I’m an all-around player that’s versatile. I have a willingness to do whatever needs to be done.

What kind of role do you see yourself in on the team? What scheme and/or position suits your skill set?
I can be a vocal leader when necessary, but I’m mostly a lead by example kind of guy. I position that best suits my skill set would be strong safety, although I have played both safety spots and I also played a little WLB when I was at Texas Tech. I can come down in the box, read and react, and even blitz.

Who is the best player you have ever played against in college?
Lining up opposite Patrick Mahomes while I was at Texas Tech, you just knew he was going to be great. Here at Nicholls, Dai’Jean Dixon is a great player that I face on a day-to-day basis. He’s a big strong receiver that definitely holds his own. He’s certainly one of the best receivers that I’ve lined up against.

Which one of your teammates impresses you the most?
Darren Evans is a long physical corner here at Nicholls. He’s a technician who makes plays at the line, runs stride for stride with anyone and knows how to go up and get the ball.

Describe a time in your life when you were able to overcome a struggle.
My transfer process from Texas Tech was definitely an experience. I came in as a freshman and had some time playing at safety, but mostly on special teams. My second year, I came in and worked hard. I was playing at safety, special teams and I was playing WLB behind Dakota Allen.

Ultimately, I decided that I would move on from Texas Tech and come closer to home to be with my family. I still have a good relationship with guys at Tech, and they knew that it was best for me. Throughout the whole process, I stayed positive. I was confident that I could make a difference where I was going to go. I met with several coaches. It was like being recruited all over again. I finally decided on Nicholls because I felt like the coaches here put me in the best position to succeed.

If you didn’t play football, what other sport would you play?
I ran a little track in high school and made it to State in the 4×100. Although, I think if I didn’t play football that I might try soccer or baseball. I’ve always found those sports interesting.

What is something that you are most proud of? What would you say is your biggest achievement?
I have to say that I’m most proud of the person and player that I’ve become today. I look back at my life and know that I’m a better person, but I have the drive to get so much better.

As far as accomplishments, I was the LSWA Louisiana Newcomer of the year and made All-Southland Conference First Team in 2019 with 112 total tackles and 3 forced fumbles. I give the ultimate effort and do whatever I have to do to lead my team to victory. There’s a lot more to come in my future. I expect a lot more wins and accolades.

Describe one of the most memorable plays of your collegiate career.
Southeastern is one of our biggest rivals. I got a forced fumble against them last year. It was really a team highlight. Our records were very close, and the winner of the game would likely go on to win our conference. The game was neck-and-neck. We were up 28-27, and Southeastern was on our 2 yard line and ready to score. They had their QB tuck the ball and go for a power run play. I came off the edge hitting the QB, the ball popped out and Sully Laiche fell on the ball to get the turnover.

Do you have a favorite athlete or professional team? Is there a player that you model your game after?
I’m a Lakers fan. Lebron is probably my favorite athlete. I study guys like Ed Reed, Jamal Adams and Tyron Mathieu in order to better my game.

Who is your favorite music artist? What gets you pumped before a game?
Future is one of my favorite artists.

What is your favorite comfort food?
At Hot Food Express here in Louisiana you can get some good crawfish and shrimp fried rice. I also like a good fruit salad.

Do you have a favorite movie or actor?
Remember the Titans is one of my favorite movies.

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies? Any secret talents?
With whatever spare time I have, I try to spend it with my son.

Who or what motivates you the most?
My family is the biggest reason why I do what I do. They’re always in my corner wanting to see me win. I have to represent my family name.
