UConn becomes the first FBS team to cancel football
UConn went independent last month, and now they are shutting down their football program for the season.
Yesterday, we posted a tweet that we were hearing rumblings of the team cancelling their season. After going 2-10 in their final season in the AAC before becoming independent the team will take a year off.
This is a huge blow for several players on their team. Kevin Mensah is a beast for UConn, and is the first running back to have back to back seasons rushing since 2011 when Lyle McCombs eclipsed the 1000 yard mark. \
Some others who will suffer largely from this decision is Brian Keating, Ryan Van Demark, Omar Fortt, Jay Rose, DJ Morgan and Tahj Herring-Wilson. All are headed into their senior year. I feel Mensah in company could be willing to declare. We will see, you could see some enter the transfer portal.
