Ole Miss sack leader Sam Williams arrested for sexual battery; Suspended from team
Former JuCo standout Sam Williams was arrested on Friday according to OM Spirit for sexual battery. He was released on a 25,000 dollar bond. The details have yet to emerge, but this is a huge blow to his draft stock.
Williams is a senior defensive end/linebacker who transferred to Ole Miss in 2019 after a stellar couple years at Northeast Mississippi Community College. Last season, he played in 12 games for the Rebels and logged 8 starts. He finished the season with 37 tackles including 9.5 tackles for loss. He led the team with 6 sacks, so this is a huge loss for Ole Miss.
Ole Miss released this statement on the sack master.
“We have suspended Sam Williams indefinitely from all team activities. We take these charges very seriously and will allow the legal system to run its course before making further determinations on his status in our program.”
