Hello, I am @jrberendzen on Twitter and this is one of my free agent interviews where I ask very deserving free agents questions about the players themselves and about what a team would get in these players. All of these players should get picked up by NFL and CFL teams and get a shot at being a career football player. So I hope you all read this interview and follow his journey on Twitter @watermovment365
1.What has been your biggest challenge in life?
I don’t know which battle was the biggest because they were all battles I had to overcome and given the circumstances I was in at the time of the battle then determined the size of the battle. I think the most discomforting battle that I fight with daily is chasing a goal that many see unreachable and having people constantly trying to detour me a different route or let me know their negative opinions and concerns instead of a positive outlook.
2.What do you do for fun?
I like playing sports, going on hikes and car rides with some music is never a bad decision unless you don’t have gas.
3.What is your mindset when you are on the football field?
My mindset is to win. I believe I am the best and if I train with a group of guys then I don’t care who is in front of us, I believe we are the best and should show it in every way we dominate our opponent. Off the field, I eat with forks and knives, and on the field, it just eats whatever and however. Predator mindset.
4.What is your favorite dinner?
My favorite dinner would probably be pasta and any type.
5.What is one thing that you want to do in life that doesn’t involve football?
I want to positively impact people. We all have our flaws but we all can still positively influence someone. I learned that even if you don’t want to be a leader if people follow you then they will follow you regardless.
6.If you could live anywhere in the world where and why?
I can’t answer that because I would like to travel.
7.What is your favorite workout?
My favorite workout is anything with competition. I love to compete.
8.What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
From a young age I would watch old Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders videos and was intrigued with how they played and their influence on a whole culture. But after my first practice in 2nd grade, I knew I wanted to play football as long as I could.
9.If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?
This is a great question, there are legends I would love to talk with. I would want to talk with Sean Taylor because of his aggression on the field but loving caring self off the field. I think mindset wise we are similar with different backgrounds.

10.What would a team get in a player like you?
A team would get a strategic, resilient, man that is a great teammate and winner. A man that knows he is not always right but will give his all and is always open to learning.
11.What are your favorite moments from your football life?
My 6th-grade year of football was my only ever perfect season with a championship and all. It wasn’t my favorite year because of perfection we displayed that year but the fact we had so many different backgrounds. I went to a different city to play ball because it was known to be a good leave and the year before I played up in a different league because I was better than most. My team had people crying the first day to quit, soccer players’ first time ever playing football, and me playing soccer and football in the same season. We all came together every practice no matter what and had the same goal as to win.
Another moment was the Juco national championship where it was guys all over the world together struggling with finances, classes and etc. We were seen as a team that was lacking size, skill, and experience compared to past championship-caliber teams yet, we never let that distract us from how great we are individually and collectively. I was working two jobs, lived an hour away from school, and was taking two-night classes and wouldn’t be on my way home until 10 pm just to be up at 6. My teammates were determined and great guys that encouraged one another and we had a family environment as one was looking out for the next. I was elected a leader that year even though I did not want the position at first, my teammates let me know how much I meant to the team and how some admitted they looked up to me and I knew I had to lead and lead them right whether. I did my best and that moment the clock hit 0 and we became national champions was an amazing feeling.
12.If your life was a tv show what would you call it and why?
In Juco days, I told a couple of people they will do a 30 for 30 on me because my story from going to the top back to the bottom, to the bottom just to go back to the top. So, if my life was a tv show, it would be called “Hell to Heaven CG.”
