2021 NFL Draft Prospect: Zion Johnson, OG, Boston College

Zion Johnson
Zion Johnson has been one of the best FCS transfer ups, in the past several years. He bet on himself and won big by landing on BC.

Zion Johnson was a former FCS player that has transitioned well to the FBS. Transferring to an FBS school from an FCS school is not easy. A matter of fact, 32 players transferred from an FCS school to an FBS school and only two players made it. I do not see that being a problem for Zion.

Zion appeared in 22 games and started 19 games on the offensive line. He was a first team All-Conference player at Davidson, and it caught the eye of Boston College. The Bowie, Maryland offensive lineman stands at 6030 and weighs 310 pounds.

Last year, in his first year with BC, Zion finished All-ACC Second Team after playing 13 games and made seven starts at left guard. He played 42 snaps off the bench in his first game in the FBS and he was pretty damn solid against Virginia Tech.

When you look at offensive lineman, especially interior lineman, you want to see smart, and mean players. Zion Johnson is both! Johnson has all the tools to be a stud at the next level. It will be great to see a star from the FCS hear his name called after transferring up and betting on himself.

NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes:

Zion Johnson bet on himself and he won. He didn’t just win, he maybe the best transfer up prospect since Rock Ya Sin who went to the FBS from an FCS school. Johnson will hear his name called in the 2021 NFL Draft, with a good season. He is a mauling offensive lineman that looked like he belonged at the FBS level from the day he landed at BC. Remember his name, he could be one of the top offensive guards taken in the 2021 NFL Draft. – Damond Talbot, NFL Draft Diamonds Owner
