What is your major/minor? During your collegiate experience, have you participated in any other activities or campus organizations other than football?

My major is in finance, and I also have a minor in accounting. Other than football, I participated in intramural sports ,and I am also a member of Delta Mu Delta (an international business honor society).

What kind of role do you see yourself in on the team? What scheme and/or position suits your skill set?

Going into my senior year, I see myself becoming a vocal leader. I have always been a “lead by example” type of guy, but I am growing to be more vocal for our team. I would say my skill set allows me to play both split out wide and in the slot at a high level. Being able to recognize coverages and run sharp routes definitely helps me do that.

Who is the best player you have ever played against in college?

I would have to say Zach Sieler from Ferris State.

Throughout your career, which one of your teammates has impressed you the most?

A teammate that has impressed me is Austin Phillips. He has been through multiple season ending injuries, but he kept his head up and is still one of the hardest workers and a leader on the team. He’s also a really good tight end and is looking to have a great year.

Describe a time in your life when you were able to overcome a struggle.

During the first game of my freshman year, I tore my mcl. It took a lot of work and film studying to secure a starting spot, and then all of a sudden I’m hurt and redshirting. I had never missed a game from an injury or anything else before, so it was heartbreaking for me. I found motivation in wanting to come back stronger, so I put my head down and worked. I rehabbed and lifted harder than ever before, and ended up having a very memorable redshirt freshman season.

If you didn’t play football, what other sport would you play?

I’d definitely play basketball.

What is something that you are most proud of? What would you say is your biggest achievement?

To me, my biggest achievement would be graduating with my Bachelor’s Degree and being on the Dean’s List the past 4 semesters.

Describe one of the most memorable plays of your collegiate career.

My most memorable play so far of my college career is my game winning Hail Mary catch this past season against Grand Valley State. We were around midfield, down 3 points, and it was the last play. Our QB, Austin Brenner, bought some time and threw a perfect ball up for grabs. My defender was face guarding me, so I waited until the last second and went up and got it. Luckily, none of the other DBs were able to tip it, so I fell back with the ball, not knowing if I was in the endzone or not. I stared at the ref from under the pile until he signaled a TD, and got up screaming my lungs off. The team rushed the field and the celebration was crazy.

Do you have a favorite athlete or professional team? Is there a player that you model your game after?

My favorite overall athlete is Lebron James, and my favorite pro team is the Cleveland Browns. As for modeling my game, I like to watch a lot of receivers’ releases and route running styles, and see if I can implement them to my skill set. Two of my favorites to watch are Stefon Diggs and Davante Adams.

Who is your favorite music artist? What gets you pumped before a game?

My favorite music artist is Tyla Yaweh. I listen to tons of music, but weirdly I don’t listen to pump up songs before games.  I usually listen to R&B to help me calm some nerves, loosen up, and keep me mellow.

What is your favorite comfort food?

My comfort food is Chipotle. I usually eat it about 4 times a week.

Do you have a favorite movie or actor?

My favorite movie is The Other Guys, but my all time favorite actor has to be Denzel Washington. He has never made a bad movie.

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies? Any secret talents?

In my free time I like to play video games, watch movies, golf, and play cards. A “secret” talent is that I’m actually really good at cornhole.

Who or what motivates you the most?

My family motivates me the most. They have always supported me and have gone to great lengths to help me in all aspects of my life. I just want to be able to return the favor.
