2021 NFL Draft Prospect: Kayode Awosika, OT, University at Buffalo

Kayode Awosika Buffalo
Buffalo Bulls right tackle Kayode Awosika is one of the best run blockers in the entire country. He should be on NFL teams big board’s. I love this kid’s blocking ability!

I am a sucker for the MAC, because I am a die hard University at Buffalo fan, but there are a few studs on their roster that need to be mentioned. We have already talked about Malcolm Koonce and Jaret Patterson, but let’s talk about their offensive tackle. The offensive lineman are always the most overlooked players on the roster, but Kayode Awosika is too big to miss.

I am a huge fan of number 73! Awosika came to UB after anchoring his offensive line for Maple Grove High School in Minnesota. I am not sure how he snuck out of the state and landed in Buffalo, but I am glad he did. He was a first team All-Minnesota player as a senior and was also named First Team All-Metro his senior year in Minnesota. Buffalo came in and swooped him away from local teams in Minnesota.

As a Redshirt Freshman in 2017, Kayode played a reserve role. He played in five games and his first game he was able to play was against Minnesota Gophers.

As a Sophomore, Kayode turned into the wall the UB offense needed. He started all 14 games at right tackle and helped pave the way for a ground attack that surpassed 2,600 yards. On the ground they also scored 36 touchdowns, both were school records at the time. Their offensive line in 2018 only allowed 15 sacks.

Last year, Kayode kept it going. He started 11 games and was named All-MAC second team. He helped the Bulls offensive line land the honorable mention for the Joe Moore Award, which is the best offensive line group in the country. The school record for rushing was crushed surpassing 3,250 yards, and get this, they allowed a program-low 8 sacks.

The Business Administration major is a great player with great work ethic. He stands at 6050 and weighs 305 pounds. He is light on his feet and I expect a huge year for my Bulls in 2020.

NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes:

Kayode is one of the best offensive lineman in the country. He has been a rock solid right tackle for UB, and I would not be surprised if Jaret Patterson rumbles for his career high in 2020. Awosika’s first step is NFL caliber and he does a great job at controlling his defender. Overall, Awosika is a draft pick in my mind. I think every NFL team would love to have a player like him that can come in day one and add value as a swing tackle. – Damond Talbot, Owner, NFL Draft Diamonds
