23 year old former Dixie State linebacker Jamal Goodman was shot and killed by his roommate.

Jamal “Tank” Goodman, a senior at Dixie State University and a former member of the university’s football team was the man identified by police as the shooting victim in a St. George apartment complex.

He was a son, brother, and friend that was loved by so many.  He was a First Team All-League Middle Linebacker at Centennial High School in Corona California.

According to StGeorgeUtah.com, the incident took place just after 9:30 p.m. when officers responded to a shooting that was reported at an apartment complex in St. George. When police arrived, they found 25-year-old Goodman with an injury to his chest. Goodman was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center where he later passed away from his injuries.

Goodman’s roommate Tommy Bradshaw Jr. told police he was at home when his roommate returned about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and “hit Tommy’s bedroom door loudly,” according to a police affidavit.

“Tommy had retrieved a handgun from his closet,” the affidavit says. “Tommy had deactivated the safety, operated the slide, and left his room to seek out the victim. Tommy located the victim in a closet and pointed the gun at him before pulling the trigger and seeing the victim fall to the ground.”

Goodman’s roommate, 32-year-old Tommy Bradshaw Jr., is scheduled to make an initial appearance in 5th District Court Friday and remains in custody.

His family has created a Go Fund Me account. This is such a tragic loss. So sad that he lost his life for no reason.
