Former Alabama player cut by CFL team for disagreeing with LGBTQ2+ views

Christion Jones
Edmonton Eskimos released football player Christion Jones for his comments about the LGBTQ community.

Christion Jones a former Alabama standout wide receiver and return man was excited to play for the Edmonton Eskimos this year, but that will not happen because of social media.

Jones tweeted his thoughts on gay/lesbian views.

“Man ain’t supposed to be with a man. A women is not suppose to be with another women.”

“They trying to get me fired now!!,” Jones replied to the backlash. “A black man giving his opinion on Twitter is sickening for many. People understand that I don’t care about getting fired standing on what I stand on. An opinion is obligated.”

The Edmonton Eskimos quickly distanced themselves from Jones by releasing this statement.

“We stand by the LGBTQ2+ community and firmly condemn the language used by Christion Jones. There is no place for such commentary on our team. Jones has been released from the roster,” the team’s statement said.

Jones did issue an apology, but that did not let him keep his job. I wonder if he will file an EEO claim based on religion. This could get ugly to be honest.
