2021 NFL Draft Prospect: Bryson Armstrong, LB, Kennesaw State University

Bryson Armstrong Kennesaw State
Kennesaw State University has one of the best defenses in the FCS, and that is in large part to number 42 Bryson Armstrong!

Since coming to the FCS and Kennesaw State, Bryson Armstrong has been a beast. The only thing that will slow down the hard hitting and play making linebacker for the Owls is his size. Something he cannot control, but when it comes to film, this kid shoots out a rocket to make a play. Let’s look at #42, and talk him up because he is a baller.

It all started at Kell High School in Marietta, Georgia. He was a four year star playing both sides of the ball. He was a receiver in high school as well as an All-State linebacker. He had 17 passes defended and four picks over his career. Add in the fact that he racked up 431 tackles and caught eight touchdowns on the other side of the ball and you have yourself a playmaker.

Not many schools recognized his talents, but one school did. The Kennesaw State Owls noticed the athletic ability and wanted to bring him on and boy did they strike GOLD!

In his first year, Armstrong won the Jerry Rice Award which means he was the best freshman in FCS football. Bryson won tons of awards and also racked up 11 sacks to set a Big South record. He finished the season with 114 total tackles, and finished third in the league in tackles for loss with 12.5.

In 2018, Armstrong’s production went down a little because opposing teams began to throw the books at him to slow him down. He was still an All-Big South first teamer, and finished with 75 tackles, and 10 tackles for loss. His sack total went down a lot. He finished with 2.5 sacks but was still a force off the edge.

Last season, Armstrong finished strong. He helped the Owls become the number 3 defense in the country. He was named Big South’s Defensive Player of the Year after leading the team with 95 tackles adding 12 tackles for loss. He had 3.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. He was a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award which is the best defensive player in the FCS.

This year, I am expecting to see records’ shattered. Bryson, I know you will read this, I want 13 plus tackles for loss, I want to see 5 plus sacks and I want you to bring home the Buck Buchanan Award. Don’t let them slow you down by saying you are not the prototypical size, show them the dawg in you. I have faith, save this paragraph!

NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes:

I have watched tons of film on players, but some people are just different. Bryson Armstrong is different. He has little football’s running through his veins. The kid loves the game, he is passionate about it, and you can see he is a student of the game. His coach is one of the best in the FCS, and I expect huge things from #42 his senior year. I want to see records smashed Bryson, Go out and leave a legacy! #TeamDiamondDamond Talbot, Owner, NFL Draft Diamonds
