2021 NFL Draft Prospect: Tommy Doyle, OT, Miami (OH)

Tommy Doyle Miami OH
Miami (OH) offensive tackle Tommy Doyle is one of the best run blocking offensive tackles in the 2021 NFL Draft. He has improved as a pass blocker as well.

I am a MAC football homer, obviously being my favorite college football team is the UB Bulls, but I wanted to take the time to talk about a possible first round pick from the MAC. Tommy Doyle the massive offensive tackle from Miami (OH) is one of the best offensive lineman in the entire country.

The MAC has produced some pretty solid players over the past decade including first overall pick Eric Fisher, Central Michigan’s Joe Staley and even L.J. Shelton from Eastern Michigan. All were solid offensive lineman, but Tommy Doyle maybe the best of them all.

Doyle stands at 6080 and weighs 326 pounds. He has the size and power to play left tackle in the NFL for years to come. The Edina, Minnesota native is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Adam Goldberg the former Vikings and Rams offensive lineman, also from Edina.

I do not think that will be a problem though. Doyle is a 2019 1st Team All-MAC performer who has started at RT and LT. He played hockey in high school and both of his parents played sports at the University of Minnesota. He is most effective in the run game where a mean streak pokes through.

Doyle is a freaking athletic player. Remember he came to college as defensive end after leading his high school in sacks. He made the transition to offensive lineman and his most impressive game happened to be against Buffalo Bills second round pick A.J. Epenesa who dominated almost every offensive tackle last season.

If you watch film of him you will be impressed. His kick step is top notch, he can sometimes get beat to the point of attack, but his long arms help him recover. Overall, he is a prospect worth watching in 2020. If Doyle has another great season for the Redhawks he could hear his name early in the NFL Draft.

NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes:

It is hard to find athletic offensive lineman with a mean streak. Tommy Doyle is that guy for the Redhawks. He may not be the best bender, but his power and toughness in the run game are impressive. He has played some solid pass rushers in the MAC and will continue to grow as a player. He is not a project player, I feel he can come in and play right away, and there is still room for growth. Remember his name, because he is special. – Damond Talbot, NFL Draft Diamonds Owner
